Why are we all blogging about fashion?
Posted on 27 August 2006

I like lovely things. I like to dress up – even if I wear my sneakers, jeans and a tee I will choose the things which flatter my body, are trendy and eye-catching. Even if I'm wearing my little black dress (the last resort of have-nothing-to-wear moments), the dress will make me feel good and beautiful.
I follow fashion trends and like to tell people about it, discuss this or that trend and am not afraid to say that some things should never come back. But I can also sincerely say that I'm not a fashion snob, as I am perfectly willing to buy a dress for $10 if I like it. For me, being fashionable is looking good and following trends to the line of extreme you are comfortable with, providing that the colors aren't clashing
Why all this you might ask? Well, reading one great article by an Indian reporter Hindol Segupta and his reasons why he writes about clothing. He says:
What is it that makes fashion so universally loved and loathed? To begin with, everyone in fashion takes it way too seriously. You know, loving fashion is like loving wine – you need to know your stuff but you can't get snooty about it. At the end of the day, it's just clothes. It's like if you like sweet wine, you can learn to the love the dry ones but in the end, if you like sweet than so be it.
And who knows more than taking things too seriously than journalists? After all, all of us do think deep in our hearts that we are changing the world, don't we?
So my final answer would be: I write about fashion to make it less serious and to make it more approachable to wide variety of people, from student girls to stay at home moms, and from busy secretaries to women executives. I want you all to see the beauty of clothing and apply it to your own lifestyle.
Tell me, why do you love fashion or blog about it?
