What to wear to work?

In the post F.Seattle talks about dressing for work, stating all those common sense guidelines you should follow in order to look professional and not be considered fashion obsessed or flimsy:
"Dress conservatively. This doesn't mean you need to check your personal style at the door, but leave the cleavage and upper thigh-baring outfits at home. Even if you do want to catch the eye of that sexy guy in marketing, save your push-up bras
for after hours or the weekends." (read the whole article, it consists of rather good tips)Although I agree with almost everything F.Seattle said, wearing navy blue and gray with a touch of pastel somehow sounds too depressing to me. You should have a great black suit and a gray one, but a girl has to combine it with vivid color shirts and/or shoes (like Quai D'Orsay pumps in plum).
Also, don't ignore the power of a white suit, so nicely presented in Desperate Housewives. Neiman Marcus online carries a nice selection of colorful suits, which might tempt you.
My point is: while work apparel must be appropriate, there's nothing inappropriate in wearing color. Trust me, people love seeing some color amongst all that gray.
