Weird earrings time

Although I just love earrings and they are my favorite accessories, I really can't make up my mind why the ones you can see on the photo left strike me as so weird.
Those are named Thorn double hoop earrings and I found them on Vivre. Thorn earrings were designed by Herve van der Straeten, and I would like to know what was the idea behind this ornament.
I don't think I could wear these with any piece of my wardrobe, because I have a feeling Thorn double hoop earrings are capable of making a person look rebellious and anarchistic.
Do you see yourself wearing these my darlings? If yes, please tell me which outfit you would pair with Thorn earrings.

Ain't they dangerous in any way ? I see a lot of spikes ... Did you actually tried them on ? and was wondering what to wear these with.

I'd wear them...and probably with one of my more gothy outfits, out to a club or the like.....least if we're talkin' dress-up style. If I had my hair upish for the day, I might simply wear them with whatever I had on. :P
