Wearing a sock with a flip-flop

When I recently read the Flip-flop socks post at Shoewawa, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Someone has actually designed socks that are exclusively intended to be worn with flip-flops, and has been shameless enough to produce it, sell it and market it!

Yes, I know that there are many crazy outfitters out there, but such a useless item is rarely seen. I have to say it again: why would anyone want to wear socks and flip-flops together? The only reason I can think of is heavy feet perspiration.

It reminds me so of the Bavarian (residents of German state of Bavaria) tourists which had the distinct custom to wear sandals like these with white athletic socks.
