Trend spotting

Whenever someone asks me how can I spend hours watching high fashion shows, when all the clothes (or most of it) seem unwearable, I answer it's because of the art and the beauty of the design.
But, looking from the everyday's person point of view, some things must seem highly weird, and to a point I have to agree.
Guy Trebay over at New York Times writes about Paris fashion shows. In his article titled "Knowing what's hot is easy. Explaining it? Not so much." he states: …Not surprisingly, a few trends seemed to beg the perennial question of whether it is those gazing into the glass of fashion, or else the glass itself, that has cracked…
Talking about real fur entering fashionist wardrobes this fall, the author jokes: …There is no solid proof of this, but certain scientists believe that the arrangement and patterns of fur on an animal boost allure, thus ensuring successful mating and species survival. Perhaps this is a factor buyers may wish to consider come fall, when Azzedine Alaïa's fur skirt hits the stores…
He goes on about hair extensions, raw wool and layered clothing, while he (without knowing it) agrees with yours truly about wedges.
The whole idea behind my post was: If you can't see the point in wearing something, it seems too cruel, ugly or whatever, just don't. Although we love them, the designers are more often driven by art than by the woman's body. Compensate and downgrade, subtle the must-look and you'll be just fine.
