This post at Makeup Minute got me to thinking about foundation. I try and use foundation sparingly, almost on an as-needed basis. When my skin is looking really good and my complexion is even, I don't use it.
Other days, things come up, like dark spots or redness or uneven complexion. I've grown rather attached to this foundation from Revlon. It's liquid and very light. Sometimes, when I just want the lightest bit of coverage, I'll mix it with my moisturizer and it gives my face an even, dewy look.

Going over my face with a cosmetic sponge keeps it blended well (rule #1 of good foundation application: blend well!). I prefer this almost au naturel look to thick, caked on foundation. I like it better when foundation evens out a woman's complexion instead of hiding it.
I also love the fact that this particular foundation comes in such a wide range of shades so that women of many different ethnicities should be able to find the right color for their skin. The deeper tones won't impart an "ashy" tone to darker skin, either, which is always a plus.
'Til next time, my pretties.
