The missing heel – worst than the wedge?
Posted on 25 May 2006

Shoewawa and Fashionologie are both writing about the new Manolo shoe: the Arunium heelless sandal (only 3 thousand $$ mind you).
The Fashionologie article states that Manolo despises wedges, and says: His alternative? His new "heelless shoe," the Arunium ($3,145), which has metal studs inspired by medieval churches. And it is beautiful, I'll give him that.
I'm not sure if me and the Fashionologie are looking at the same photo, but this is so far from beautiful in my opinion. Well, maybe as a sculpture to put behind bulletproof glass, yes. But to wear?! Manolo is known for hold-your-breath design, beautiful colors and a goal to make a woman's foot even more wonderful. This seems as a one off.
First, one would have to know what is the weight limit for this shoe, as I can just imagine a normal built girl springing along the street with these on. Second, these are just too high and seem too unstable for a safe walk, be it only down the red carpet. (Well, if you had a handsome and masculine Vin Diesel to support you maybe it wouldn't be so bad.)

Anyhow, if you're looking for a wedge alternative, and are determined to give the missing heel a chance, try United Nude for a slightly user friendlier concept.
