The cheese perfume
Filed in archive Lifestyle , News on May 15, 2006
Would you like to reek of cheese? NO? (What a surprise.) Then read about the newest addition to the fragrance world, Eau de Stilton.
Although I was partly joking in the first paragraph, the news is real: Stilton Cheese Makers Association has issued a perfume. "The perfume has a very earthy, musky, herby type of background which is very different to the very sweet perfumes you smell wafting down the street as someone walks past you." said Nigel White, from the SCMA, according to the story on BBC News portal.
The SCMA is already looking for a celebrity to promote the cheezy perfume. If you're wondering why the hell should anyone produce a perfume that smelled of cheese, here you go:
Eau de Stilton has been commissioned by the SCMA as part of the STICK ON THE STILTON campaign for 2006, to encourage people to try eating Blue Stilton cheese as part of everyday meals - scattered on a pizza, sliced onto a burger or slipped into a sandwich. states the press release on the Stilton Cheese original website.
Although the SCMA claims that: The perfume, which has been blended by Manchester based ID Aromatics for the SCMA, re-creates the earthy and fruity aroma of Blue Stilton cheese in an eminently wearable perfume. Using grape seed as a carrier oil, the Stilton scent features a symphony of natural base notes including Yarrow, Angelica seed, Clary Sage and Valerian., I'm not so keen on the idea.
Maybe one of the forum members described it best, saying: I often smell of garlic, so a girl smelling of cheese would be my perfect match.
On the other hand, this might just be interesting, you newer know?! I'm going to try and get some samples to report back.

Hi Ivy,
Well, coming from a cheese lover...it may be interesting to know what this new perfume would smell like :) I'm not a big perfume wearer though - more into oils and body sprays...

I like body sprays when I'm at home, and I use oils to perfume my apartment. When it comes to smelling like a million dollars, I always put some perfume from the Poison line on.

Kevin: You don't have to. Really. My boyfriend is one lucky sod. Just ask him yourself.

I'm sure you're a pretty girl; I just don't understand why you'd want to smell like cheese.

I wouldn't like to smell like cheese, I was just wondering what would the scent be like. I mean - cheese in a pefume, you know?

Yeah I know, you're curious; but I'm worried this stuff will become mainstream. I don't want girls smelling like cheese lol.

They already have an image model, it's Cat Deeley. A cat, instead of a mouse, who likes cheese. :)
Cheesy, er... a corny joke. :)
