But they still do their job, answering our questions. This week one of the most interesting ones was: Why doesn't our armpit and leg hair grow as long as our scalp hair?
Beauty Brains answer:
"Vellus on the other hand are short hairs (a millimeter or less) they are very fine, and they have a very short life cycle, which means they spend most of the time in the Telogen phase. That also means they'll never grow as long as scalp hair. These very fine hairs are found on "hairless" parts of the body like arms and legs. (Ok, those areas aren't hairless, but they kind of look hairless because the hairs are so tiny and fine.)"
Another mystery solved, don't you agree? I bet you asked yourself this a couple of times. And, by the way, you can't make your 'vellus' hairs stronger, bigger, longer or more visible by removing it, so don't be a stranger to my hair removing section!

I would have expected a more scientific explanation, because this one does not satisfy me at all. The fact that the one on the legs has not a long life is not an explanation. I still do not know why they have a short life circle, but I take the bright side: the flower in the picture looks very nice, but unfortunately autumn is over.

Flowers, there's a detailed and very scientific explanation on Beauty Brains, just click on a link. I love the flower too, in fact I have some sunflowers growing in a pot on my window. They do brighten up the room.
