Test Driving the Trend - Gray Nails
Filed in archive Beauty by Dina Fierro on March 04, 2008

I'm a classicist when it comes to my nails, generally speaking. I wear traditional reds, burgundies and the occasional sheer pink and only once in a blue moon
do I stray to trendier hues. Now, I remember why.A couple of weeks ago, I attended a beauty launch event at the Royalton Hotel (LOVE the Royalton!) that showcased the new Spring shades from China Glaze. Now, China Glaze does fantastic nail lacquers - they're available in a wide range of colors and reasonably priced. Their new spring Ecollection is inspired by the "green" trend, which in turn inspired ME to raise a brow as nail polishes, for the most part, are far from being 'green' - even if they're green!
I was, however, inspired to test drive Recycle - a matte, dark cement gray polish from the Ecollection. Grays have been hailed as the next big thing in nail polish and it seemed like a more approachable take on black or navy. Boy, was I wrong. Looking down at my dark gray nails, I sincerely feel like this is the MOST unflattering polish color that I've ever worn. In the history of time. And, er, nail polish. The hue makes me look dead - it's just not flattering to my fair, pink toned skin. Oh well - lesson learned! Now, where's my bottle of I'm Not Really a Waitress?
Have you tested any trendy polish colors lately? Did they work out for you? Leave a comment and tell us about it!
