Sunday Beauty Routine: Deciding on toenail color
Filed in archive Beauty , Weekly beauty routines on July 10, 2006
This Sunday I was blessed with an invite to a friend-of-a-friend pool, which is really the thing you're praying for on these hot and humid days. (note to self: seek for a job paying mass $$ so you can get yourself a pool of your own.) Anyhow, I didn't have to think much about the swimming suit, as I was clairvoyant enough to get a nice black bikini which fits nicely on all the important places (although I didn't plan to go to a vacation this year), I had a beach dress ready and my flip flops were dying to get out there.
The plan was to get there early afternoon, so I had more than enough time to get my Sunday Beauty Routine done. I gave myself a head to toe peeling under the shower, shaved my legs and armpits, followed by a good body lotion and some firming gel for my thighs and butt. (It's interesting how a little gel can make your butt perkier and more interesting looking, but that's a whole new story). As I manicured my nails a few nights ago, I just put on a nice shade of pinkish nail polish on.
My biggest job was still waiting to be done: the pedicure. I was wise enough to get it done professionally some weeks ago, but both of my feet needed some serious touching up. I followed my own pedicure advice and did it properly, thinking about having a foot - stress free week after it. I got rid of dry skin, moisturized my soles, cut my nails and was left with nicely shaped, completely blank toenails.
Who would have thought that choosing a toenail color would take so much consideration? I didn't want to put screaming red nail polish on, although it is one of my favorites, for the simple reason of not wanting to get used to it. I want to still be shocked when I look at my toenails, and I had a feeling that putting red nail polish on every time would take the edge of it. The pinkish polish was obviously out of question, because matching nails on fingers and toes are tacky. So, considering the metallic craze that is running around now, and after much consideration, I have decided on silver nail polish. And I did right, my toes looked fabulous!
I didn't fuss much about my hair, as it was about to get wet again, so I just washed it, put on some leave in conditioner and put it up. I smeared on some sunscreen and was ready to go.
The afternoon by the pool went magnificent, and I returned home relaxed and feeling full of energy. Hope it will not all drain out of me after the Monday's work!

Silver is a great color and I learned a neat little trick a few years ago. Paint your nails any color and then apply a coat of silver over it. Looks amazing!
