Smoky Eye Makeup Done Right

The smoky eye is "in" for fall. I love the smoky eye as this is probably my favorite facial feature. Although some people think this is a look best reserved for night, I think you can pull it off even during the day…if done right.
Right meaning appropriate for the time and place. The office isn't the place for Halloween-night makeup. You don't want to be the office racoon.
For day, apply makeup with a light hand. Eyeliner doesn't have to be black to be dramatic. You can go with a deep brown or even a plum. Use your favorite mascara and apply 2-3 coats, letting it dry in between.
The rest of your face should be neutral. Your blush should be nearly invisible and a nude, shimmery lip finishes this look off well for office wear. To transform to evening, a deeper lip color is fine (red is big this season), but I love a dramatic eye with pale, shiny lips.
