SAG Style - Getting Red Carpet Ready Hair

Our friends at Suave and their celebrity hairstylist spokesperson Luke O'Connor were gracious enough to provide tips on getting SAG Award Red Carpet Style. Read on and get the scoop!

The Look: Vintage Hollywood Glam; Soft, Sultry Waves
The following starlets let their hair down (literally!) by wearing hair in loose, soft waves: Debra Messing, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie and Marcia Cross.

To re-create at home:
Before blow-drying, apply an extra hold mousse to give hair body and volume. Blow-dry with a medium round brush. Post-blow-dry, pick up a 1 1/4 inch curling iron, gather large sections of hair (1-2 inches) and spiral wrap around the iron to create loose, soft waves. To keep waves in place finish with Suave Professionals Extra Hold Hairspray (available at drugstores nationwide in February.)

The Look: Low Chignon with a Side Part and Side-Swept Bangs
Tina Fey and Teri Hatcher embodied chic style with their hair worn in this updated classic. Side-swept bangs kept these pulled-back styles looking both sleek and soft.

To re-create at home:
The key to dressing up any chignon is to have hair that is high-shine! Use Suave Professionals Vibrant Shine Shampoo and Conditioner (available in drugstores nationwide in February) to lock in luster. Part your hair on the side and blow out bangs first. For a side bang that is smooth and soft - blow-dry bangs under using a round brush. Next, pull the hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Secure your low ponytail to the left, right, or center - depending on the look you want. Twist the ponytail into a bun and secure with a couple bobby pins. Finish with hairspray to keep the chignon and loose fly-aways in place.

The Look: Sleek & Chic
Kyra Sedgwick wore her hair straight back with sleek sides and a little height on top. Similarly, Vanessa Williams wore her hair slicked back in a half-up/half-down 'do.

To re-create at home:
To re-create Kyra's high-volume look, start by applying an extra hold mousse to damp hair. After blow-drying, tease the hair on the top of the head. Then, lightly brush and smooth this hair back and off of the face. Brush the sides closer to the head (while still maintaining height on top). Gather hair into a mid ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Finally, take the ponytail, twist and pin to secure the hair in the back. Finish with Suave Professionals Vibrant Shine Hairspray (available in drugstores nationwide in February.) For Vanessa's high-glam look, start with teasing hair on the top of the head. Brush the hair back with sleek sides into a mid-ponytail (should be secured in an elastic at ear level). Smooth those strands not worn up with a straightening iron. For hold and shine, finish with Suave Professionals Vibrant Shine Mist (available at drugstores nationwide in February.)
