The drug's name is Xenical. The official website says:
"Unlike other weight-loss drugs you may have heard about that act in the brain or central nervous system to suppress appetite or to speed up metabolism, XENICAL works in your digestive system to block about one-third of the fat in the food you eat from being digested.
Enzymes in your digestive system, called lipases, help digest (or break down) fat. When taken with meals, XENICAL attaches to the lipases and blocks them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten."
Sounds good, and I suppose it's not dangerous if the FDA lets it be sold OTC.
As I do not consider diet pills a good choice for losing weight, since there is no pain and you will not appreciate the loss, I won't even bother to try them out. But if you do, let me know your experiences.

Diet drugs are, in my opinion, as dangerous, i.e. addictive as any other drugs that you take without really needing to.
