Product review: Not at all cool from Pantene
Posted on 08 May 2007

I've been a year-long user of Pantene purifying shampoo, but never seemed to like any other of the brand's products. I decided to give the new Pantene Restoratives a chance, and as always I was disappointed.
The Restoratives shampoo I tried was the Breakage Defense one, which promised to "Strengthen each hair strand from root to tip for dramatically less hair fall due to breakage", with amazing results in a month's use. I used the product two to three times a week, followed with the same line conditioner, and believe me, nothing spectacular happened.
My dry and brittle hair which was freshly cut to remove split ends before the start of the testing had split ends after a month, no less than usual. So, the advertising claim does not stand a real test. Also, my favorite chemists The Beauty Brains agree with me.
Rather pissed with yet another false advertising hype I wrote the company and asked where on earth do they find scientific evidence to back up their advertising claims. Here is what they've answered:
"It's important for our products to live up to our advertising claims. We conduct extensive scientific research and laboratory testing, as well as in-home and clinical testing, to make sure our advertising claims are factual. Because of the competitive nature of our business, though, we're unable to provide details to individuals about the specific research we perform."
Just like listening to politicians talk.
