Passion for Pink

Is it wrong to be obsessed with nail polish?
For the longest time I went every week to have acrylic nails put on. I got what they call "pink and whites" where the pink powder and white powder are applied to the nails to emulate a French manicure. I loved my acrylic nails. And when I had to give them up, I literally cried.
I know, pathetic. But it felt like a major blow when I realized that I couldn't afford the time (or really the money) to keep them up.
I still like the natural look or, depending on how you look at it, I'm obsessed with the color pale pink. With spring finally here, I want everything in my world to be pink, and I find myself purchasing bottle after bottle of Essie nail polish so I have lots of pale pink options for my fingers and toes.
I have a theory about my obsession. I live in L.A. and you'll see kids as young as four getting their nails done. I'm not kidding – I always feel bad for the manicurist who has to do a little girl's fingernails, only to have the child smudge them a moment later. Then mom steps in and asks the manicurist to fix them… you get the idea.
Anyway, my theory is that growing up in my distinctly un-girly household, a part of me is in permanent rebellion. Even though a four year old might not be a great candidate for a manicure, I was nail color-free until my mid-twenties.
And I plan to spend the rest of my life making up for my late start!
