No matter what you think about Jean Paul Gaultier's clothing design (I must say I adore it), you have to love him for embracing the world as it is, with people coming in all shapes and sizes. He continues to break catwalk rules of height / body mass / age once again with his newest ready to wear spring 2007 collection, presented at Paris two days ago.
The charming man shared his view of the thin-model-ban with a plus model wearing one of the outfits. The Daily Telegraph reports:
As one of my favorite bloggers said, there's no need to ban or support people based solely on their body weight, but pretending that no one over the age of 20, under the height of 5ft 9in and over the weight of 7st is going to wear the clothes presented at the catwalks is absurd. It's like banning 99% of people alive, so you tell me which is absurd.

"While Paris Fashion Week officials shunned Madrid's moves last month to ban underweight models, Gaultier embraced the the controversy by putting a plus-size beauty on his catwalk.
The supersize stunt made Gaultier's curvy model laugh and even drew a grin from the usually stone-faced Anna Wintour, the fashion editor who inspired Meryl Streep's character in The Devil Wears Prada movie."

Actually, as I learnt recently, the market for plus models is getting bigger as we speak (pun...khm) I am pleased because of that, maybe peple will start respecting their bodies.

I love this. Women of all shapes and sizes deserve to feel sexy. Though it seems from the votes that not everyone feels this way. I guess only skinny people get to enjoy fashion.

You have to love Jean Paul Gaultier for his courage and why not, faith in his own creations. They look astonishing on every model, whether she is a regular or a plus sized one.

I admire him, Jean Paul for what he did in The Fifth Element where all the clothes could not be confused to some other designer. If the lady in the first pictures has no complexes of any kind, if it's all right with her, not with Jean Paul, then it is all right with me as well. Let him show the naked truth in a pleasant way!

Presented in Paris, the ready to wear 2007 Spring Collection defies age, height and body mass. He used a plus size model for one of his outfits which defied the usual norm, just like in the 2006 spring collection.
