Keeping the locks

This seasons luscious long curls may have won you over, so your hair is getting dryer and messier the more it grows, and the winter harsh cold air is no help what so ever. Whatever you do, don't cut it, not after you've spent time and money growing it.

I have worn my hair long for ages, and one thing I can advise you is to nourish it, constantly, every time you wash it. Don't get misleaded with that mumbo-jumbo beauty comes from within, no amount of veggies or fish is going to help your hair.

I wash my hair only twice a week, and I do it with the mildest possible shampoo, Johnson and Johnson baby moisturizing shampoo. Since I'm not a factory worker or a professional Athlete, and my hair is never dirty, I shampoo only once and rinse thoroughly. Then I put a generous amount of Garnier Fructis deep conditioning mask for long dry hair, pin my hair up and wrap it in a towel for 15 to 20 minutes (don't read the instructions on the bottle, just leave it in). In that time I wax my legs, apply peeling to my body or manicure my nails. When I have rinsed the conditioner out, I first squeeze the water out of my hair and than wrap it in a fuzzy towel.

With long hair blowdrying is a no-no, so after my hair has dried a bit, I spray a leave in conditioner from Schwartzkopf (hair repair liquid silk). When my hair is almost dry, I splurge some mousse on it and put my curlers on. I leave them on for the night (yes, it's a bit tricky to sleep with those, but you get used to it, after all, being beautiful means constant sacrifice), and in the morning I'm as pretty as a doll.

A good thing to do in the winter time is to take some olive oil once a week and apply it to your hair, wrap it in a plastic cap and leave it on for a couple of hours. Wash and condition as usual afterwards. In the summer you can do this once a month.
