IT Screen Goddesses Calendar

As you can see from the pictures, this calendar is really something different. Sonja Bernhardt, the mind behind this project, designed it to make some things clear: The calendar aims to dispel the "geeky" image of IT and the perception that IT is not a desirable career for women, by providing a life expose of real women with unreal careers - all living and loving IT. We think both men and women who see women as complete people with both minds and bodies, and don't see any conflict in that, will appreciate the calendar for its celebration of real women with real careers done in a fun, interesting, artistic and sensual way.

The calendar features 16 real 'geek' girls and women in poses taken from movies, complete with their biographies, some significant dates in technology history and some other interesting information. The calendars are only 14,95 AUD if you pre-order, and all of the proceeds will be distributed among organizations promoting careers in IT for women and girls. The calendar will be launched on 11 August.

Sonja Bernhardt said, answering to some questions about calendar treating women as sex objects:

Movies and media are constantly focusing on actresses and models who are attractive and scantily dressed and magazines for teenage girls devote pages to makeup and attracting boys. The "beautiful people" are, like it or not, seen as role models and women to admire. And it is not the media setting public taste - it is the interests of the public driving the media. And if that is what people want, is it better that the role models they see are limited to actresses and models - or should they see that a career in technology does not mean being a frumpy geek who can't get a boyfriend, but can be interesting, challenging, exciting and glamorous?
