I bumped my car

...and crashed the other one totally. Of course it wasn't my fault, the road was very slippery, partially covered with snow and ice, and the jerk in front of me just had to brake! I put my little foot lightly on the brake, but my car began to skid sideways, and I ended up crashing my left rear light and flasher into another car, causing a rather long scratch (starting at the beginning and ending at the end of the left side of the car) and a shattered window. Hmmmm.

I got out of my car to see the men from the other one crying! At first I thought he was hurt, but it appears that he was just so sorry for his state of the art car. Nevertheless I gave him my insurance information and thought about what to do. You guessed correct girl: I phoned my few closest friends and arranged to meet for a cup of coffee.

I was already feeling better after half an hour of badmouthing winter street cleaning services and stupid breaking people. My friends convinced me that repairs for my car wouldn't cost much, so we went shopping and I bought myself a nice scarf and gloves. I went home, intuitively feeling that my significant other is going to go ballistic when he sees it. And I wasn't wrong. What is it with men and cars?

First, he yelled at me for putting on my makeuplinks and talking on my mobile and not paying attention to the road, like I was retarded. He then had the nerve to blame me (!) for not putting the snow chains on! Oh my God! Is he for real? How can I put them on with this manicure? Shutting him up by threatening (sleeping in the den him not me), I gave him the cold treatment for a few days, and he finally came to his senses and took the car to the mechanics'. This was great because the loose rear bumper scratching was driving me mad!

Anyhow, I still think women are better drivers than men. I always pay attention and drive slowly; I have a hands free mobile set and never makeup in the car (the mirror is just not big enough). At Drive and stay alive agree with me: There is a remarkable amount of nonsense talked about women drivers. The simple fact is that while women may have proportionately more crashes than men, those crashes are, on the whole, much less severe and women are therefore responsible for far fewer injuries and deaths than are male drivers. As a reflection of this fact, many auto insurance companies in the UK are now offering significant discounts for women drivers; perhaps it's time for American companies to follow suit. Sexist guys eat your hearts out!
