Highlight your eyes – and your lips!

Highlight your eyes - and your lips!

A lot can be learnt from runways, not only what clothes trends are in and how to wear it, but also valuable makeup tips and tricks.

I was really pleasantly surprised with Paco Rabanne Fall Ready-to-Wear runway show. Besides gorgeous clothes, Rabanne also had the wits to employ the wonderful Patt McGrath to do the models' makeup.

She used a highlighter on the inner corners of the eye, making models eyes appear larger and more rested. But she also put a dab of the same highlighter above the middle of the upper lip, so that models lips looked plumper and 'juicier'.

This is a great trick to know in this age of 'Angelina Jolie' lips, when lip plumpers are getting sales boost like no one could expect. Although I have fairly plump lips, I did try a couple of plumpers, but I can't honestly say they did their job well enough for me to continue using it.

But I really like this makeup trick; because you don't have to torture your lips to make them look kissable. The only thing you need is a great highlighter, which should be applied only to that little dent above the upper lip, in small, almost invisible quantity. You can go for a shimmery white (silver) or a shimmery golden highlighter, as I've tried it both look great.

I like Bare Escentuals Eye Quickies which come packed together in Ice Queen and Sun goddess shades, and which last forever. You need to apply these with a small brush. If you prefer an all in one highlighter, try Benefit Mr. Frosty highlighting pencil in pearly white.

And remember, little is more with highlighters, so study the photo thoroughly and apply only a little!

This is a great trick. Highlighters can also be used to hide puffy eyes, neutralize dark circles, conceal creases, and accentuate the arch of your brow. It is something every woman should have in her makeup arsenal!
