Finding a perfect pair of jeans
Filed in archive Fashion and Style on January 13, 2006

If you ask men, perfect jeans on a woman are, well, tight. I have to agree, to a point. No matter how big (flat, round, low) your bum is, it's going to look so much better in a pair of tight, yet perfectly tailored, jeans.
The truth is that you can wear jeans from morning to the evening and always look appropriate. My winter's favorite is dark blue roll cuff cropped jeans, paired with a crisp white shirt, black trench coat and a pair of flat heeled boots.
But, how to choose from such a variety? It was easy when our mothers were young :) You could get Wrangler or Levis and that was about it.
Be prepared to spend several hours trying on different jeans, and then some more again the next day. A good idea would be to go to a store that offers a lot of brands. Don't get intimidated by categories and forget about your size, they're going wild with this and your 8 might be a 10 in another store.
Many great jeans designers offer some guidance on their web pages, so you can get an idea of what you're looking for (here's Guess, Gap, Levi's, Lee).
Ivillage says: The most important thing to know about shopping for jeans: Honor your contours and you won't go wrong.I say: always take your jeans with a bit of stretch. This byword has never failed me. You see, stretch prevents your jeans to deform, and still lets you buy one size smaller for that extra sexy look.
And you still haven't found the jeans you're looking for? Many recommend MeJeans, a place to order custom made jeans -- online.
