Fashion models starving to death

"Reston, 1.72m tall and weighing only 40kg, had been in hospital since October 25 due to a kidney malfunction. Her condition became more serious and deterioratedinto a generalised infection that led to her death on Tuesday."
Ana became a model when she was 13, modeling for Ford, Elite and L'Equipe agencies. She traveled the world following her career, she died only a day before her planned trip to Paris where she was supposed to shoot an editorial.
Ana's relatives reported that Ana refused to eat anything except apples and tomatoes in fear of putting on weight over the past year. Her bodyweight was so low that her body was incapable to fight a urinary infection which developed into kidney insufficiency and finally led to total sepsis that killed her.
Now, can anyone tell me how do those designers and model agency managers claim they check their girl's health? How can they even look themselves in the mirror when they know that their unrealistic and even sick requirements kill people? I wrote about the necessity to change some things in fashion industry, what do you think?
