Don't Skip Breakfast to Lose Weight
Filed in archive Diet and Nutrition by del on November 1, 2007
If you think that skipping meals will help you to lose weight, it won't. Studies have consistently shown that people who eat regularly throughout the day lose weight and keep it off versus people who go long periods without eating.

Our bodies use food as fuel and eating stimulates the metabolism to burn calories. If your body feels like it's starving, it holds onto those precious calories and fat. You know that old adage: "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day"? Well, it really is. Here's news that shows how eating a healthy breakfast kickstarts your metabolism.

Don't think it has to be cereal and milk all the time, either. Oatmeal, whole wheat pancakes, toast, waffles, fruit, yogurt, fruit smoothies and healthy muffins are all good choices for a morning meal. If you don't have time to cook, toast and fruit take little time to prepare. Or you can grab a prepackaged breakfast snack like Quaker Breakfast Bars on your way out the door.

If you really want to see those numbers on the scale drop, try eating a nutritious breakfast every day in addition to exercise. You might be pleasantly surprised.

'Til next time, my pretties.
