Dare to wear stripes

Same as polkadots, stripes are one of those trends that come and go very often, and it seems that every major designer had a striped item ready for spring.

Glam.com published a nice enough guide to stripe tops, divided into three easy categories: My rent money, My grocery money and My lunch money. So you know exactly what you're giving up in order to satisfy your fashion urge. Fair enough. I love the one from Active Endeavors brand Adam + Eve.

Tracey Anderson says: Cute, sporty, and quite affordable, striped tops are one of spring's hottest trends. Whether tank, rugby, or long-sleeved, this trendy-without-being-trendy look is casual enough for the beach but can be dressed up for evening. Also, check out for the glam page with celebrities wearing stripes, or maybe better don't, because none of it looks wow.

Stripes can be tricky to wear. I wouldn't dear to put on a horizontally striped skirt or dress if that was the last thing in my closet (my behind is more on J Lo side), but if you're in need for some curves, than this kind of stripes might be your best friend!

For those of us in need for some 'user friendlier' stripes, Old Navy skirts in beautiful vertical pastels could do the trick. They come in different lengths and styles, every girl can find a perfect one for herself. Bluefly.com is also your friend: I found this perfect Eva Franco halter dress, and Shoshanna white metallic stripe top.

  • The greatest thing about stripes is that they can visibly alter the way you look, even for the untrained eye: vertical stripes will always make you look taller, while horizontal stripes will make you look ‘well built’.

Did you know that stripes in fashion have been inspired from construction? It is a fact that a designer told me and it inspires a lot of strength and desire to dominate the others through fashion.
