Coming Soon to a Counter Near You: Sue Devitt Fall '08

Yesterday afternoon, the penthouse at Barney's was transformed into a gorgeous luncheon to launch the Fall 2008 Sea Spray collection from celebrity makeup artist Sue Devitt. For those of you who aren't familiar with Sue or her line of hydrating cosmetics, her credentials include work with established and respected brands like NARS and Awake.

Sea Spray is inspired by Sue's home, Australia, and the stunning colors of the great barrier reef. The entire collection is infused with good-for-you ingredients that include a proprietary water-encapsulated mineral powder formula, ceramides and hyaluronic acids. Two gorgeous eye shadow quads - the Microquatic Hydrating Marine Mineral Eye Palettes - are the undisputed stars of the collection - they look like water color paintings and are available in two colorways: Blue Waters and Green Isles. When I asked, Sue suggested using each to create a more wearable smoky eye for fall, a trend that she says is continuing.

Devitt admits that her collections are inspired by her world travels and after a recent trip to Africa, she says that she's already thinking of how those rich hues - the reds of clay earth, the barren browns, beiges and chocolates, along with the greens of the many varieties of grass - will translate to her Spring 2009 collection.
