Cannes fashion highlights: Best and Worst dressed

Posted on 02 June 2006

59th Festival de Cannes has brought crème de la crème of film industry to France, to show of, promote their films and compete for prizes. It was also one great opportunity for stars to sport their new dresses, some of them did it beautifully and some flunked the elementary style school.

Cannes fashion highlights: Best and Worst dressed My favorite outfit was the one Monica Bellucci sported, great from top to bottom, appropriate, yet diva-like and original. Even the alligator necklace (two reptiles biting each other) doesn't break the look in my opinion. Love the skirt, love the little white bolero, love the hairdo – I'm secretly in love with the whole image of Monica wearing this. Also, good of her husband not to wear anything that would clash.
cannes2.jpg The worst look was joint appearance of Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst. The first one looks like she tied a pillow to her bod, while the other one is successfully wearing the modern nun outfit (doesn't Julie Andrews in The sound of music come to your mind?). What's wrong with these youngsters, don't they know that people expect glamour from the red carpet walkers?

Trivia info for you: Ever since its creation, the Golden Palm (director's award) has been awarded only once to a woman: New Zealand's Jane Campion, for The Piano Lesson in 1993.

  • Ivy, I adore that outfit on Monica Bellucci too – how fun and frisky – and hubby does look great with her. Great choice of favorite, I totally agree! Hope you are doing very well! :)
