A recent Beauty Brains article made me dig up some info on other uses of botox, and according to the Wikipedia article, Botox could be he super drug of the future.
FDA approved Botox for treating following conditions: migraines, cervical dystonia, blepharospasm (involuntary eye muscle contractions) and - excessive sweating.
The procedure involves an injection of Botox® in the underarm area. Botox®, a toxic protein produced by a bacterium, has the effect of inhibiting the function of nerve cells. When put in the underarm area some of the nerves that control sweat production are paralyzed so no liquid is produced., says Beauty Brains.
Although FDA only approved cosmetic use of Botox for between brow area only, more and more people and cosmetic doctors are injecting the stuff all over their faces. It is used without FDA approval for: "urinary incontinence, anal fissure, spastic disorders associated with injury or disease of the central nervous system including trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy, focal dystonias affecting the limbs, face, jaw, or vocal cords, TMJ pain disorders" according to Wikipedia.
One doctor is even researching possible depression Botox cure, while others are linking it to weight loss. The more you read the more it seems that the dangerous poison might be the super drug of the future.
And this brings me to my point: you might not be aware of the fact that when Botox is injected into a muscle, the muscle literally stops working. When unable to contract, muscle won't wrinkle our faces, for a period of up to 120 days. That sounds scary. I don't object to the use of Botox for treating medical problems, but I don't see myself ever injecting the stuff to my face for beauty reasons.
One other thing: if you're considering Botox for your next beauty regime, take notice that for each injection you receive dozens of animals will suffer excruciating pain, while over 50% of them will die during the toxicity test:
Wickham labs inject Botox into the stomachs of hundreds of baby mice each day. The Botox primarily freezes their muscles; the mice also suffer loss of vision and seizures, until the diaphragm becomes so paralysed that eventually the animals suffocate. says, and documents, the SWAT website.
Wouldn't you consider less drastic options first? Pretty please?

By now you must know my opinion about Botox, and all the scary details that are behind the 'magic-wrinkle-cure', but nonetheless more and more women are taking the risk to look youthful. I for one will never paralyze my muscles...

Botox injection is the most common cosmetic operation in the US. Women get once very dangerous poison injected to their faces to get rid of wrinkles, and to look younger for a couple of months. I’m sure you’ve all heard of cosmetic use of B...
