Body Exfoliation 101

Posted on 09 October 2007

During the fall and winter months, you may notice that your skin looks and feels drier. This is partly a result of less moisture being in the air. If you want your skin to remain silky smooth even during the harshest weather, it's important to use moisturizers and lotions. It's also a good idea to exfoliate regularly to get rid of dead skin cells which can dull your complexion.

With all the loofahs, sponges, and scrubs out there, how do you choose the right exfoliator for you?

For the body, a loofah is a wonderful tool. If you've never used one before, you may have to get used to the rough texture, but you don't have to scrub hard with a loofah. Moderate pressure gets the job done.

If you want a delicious smelling treat, try Origins' Jump Start® Stimulating Body Scrub. Infused with cinnamon, geranium oil, lavender, ylang ylang and apricot seeds, this invigorating scrub will get you going in the morning.

Especially for keeping your hands soft and sweet-smelling is Sephora's BODY Super Hand Scrub. You can often tell a lot about a woman by looking at her hands, so keep your hands looking youthful by getting rid of dead surface cells that can age you.

Whether you use a loofah or some kind of scrub, pay attention to areas that are prone to roughness such as your heels, your elbows, and knees. Still, treat your skin gently and don't rub it raw. You can have touchably smooth skin all winter long with a little care.

'Til next time, my pretties.
