Big Style, Small Price: Vintage
Posted on 22 April 2010
I bet that most girls can remember their mom dragging them into a local Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift store at one time or another. Resale shops were a dreaded trip, filled with clothes older than Aunt Sue. But, there is a new spin on "gently used" clothing and jewelery.
There are thrift stores popping up everywhere boasting designer brands (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Vera Wang) that are actually legitimate! I live in a rinky dink town by the name of Croswell and there's a relatively new thrift store called Double Take that is aimed towards the female populous, and is filled with Hollister, American Eagle, and tons of designer clothing. The owner has regular designer purse parties, and stocks only stylish and modern clothing. Her prices are extremely reasonable and the clothes are in great condition. She gets a lot of business. These kind of shops aren't exclusive to small towns, you can find them almost anywhere!
As well as newer jewelry, she showcases actual vintage jewelry picked up over the years. Not only can you buy from stores like these, but a lot of them offer consignment, so you could make a few bucks off of your hand-me-downs.
Vintage is all the rage this season with trendsetters like Lady GaGa and Katy Perry. Whether it is the A-Line emperor waist dress or a gigantic brooch to accent a jacket, all of these things can be found in thrift and consignment shops.

Save a few bucks while looking fabulous and finding something truly unique.
