Alli - is it a fat girl's Antabus?

I was, like any other body conscious girl out there, really happy when I heard that the FDA has finally found one diet pilllinks safe enough to use, and gave it's approval. The Alli treatment (aka Orlistat OTC) is selling like mad now, and everyone is looking forward to the future without obesity, with every girl fitting into designer size clothing.

But, as always, you really have to use your head and think for yourself, not taking for granted that FDA approved means good for you. You see, the Alli people are masking one or two, even three significant issues you really should consider: the diet plan with less than 15 gr of fat (and the pill stops another quarter from being absorbed) might lower your vitamin intake (such as A, E, K and D vitamins), if you eat 15 or more grams of fat you are rather likely to shit yourself - literary, and third, you might just get more likely to get colon and breast cancer.

Does it sound good now? Read the Angry 365 comment about alli, diarrhea, oily stools and the impossibility of controlling your bowel movement, it made me laugh and cry at the same time.

If you're concerned with the increased possibility of getting cancer, you should read The Fat Loss Troubleshooter's article about it. Here's about colon cancer:
"So what was it that has been found out about this drug that would lead to this kind of hiding? What are the other side effects of Alli? What is the aberrant crypt foci issue?
A study done shows significant increase in the incidence of aberrant crypt foci. These crypts are widely believed to be a precursor of colon cancer. This is also not a bias study done by a competing drug company either. The National Cancer Institute has done these works and they have established a healthy link between ACF and colon cancer."

And here's about breast cancer:
"In the seven randomized, controlled clinical trials, there were 10 cases of breast cancer in the treated groups with only one in the control groups. The relative risk of getting breast cancer while taking Orlistat (compared to placebo) was calculated several times by both FDA and the sponsor and found to vary between 4- and 7-fold, depending on the analysis."

To cut the long story short, only a few people in their right mind would choose to take alli after reading this. The most concerning thing is that alli people call the plan honest, without revealing straightforward all of the above side affects - ant that the powerful FDA endorsed the lie.

I myself think that alli is a kind of a fat girl's Antabus, which is a drug prescribed to alcoholics as a kind of a safety net. When an alcoholic who is on the Antabus takes even a small amount of alcohol he instantly has severe problems, such as vomiting uncontrollably and severe headache. As the ones who tried to drink while taking Antabus say: they wouldn't like even their archenemies to have that experience.

If alli makes us incontinent for eating a few grams of fat more than prescribed, it is exactly like Antabus, cause you'll soon fear to drink water because of the paranoid suspicion someone might not have washed the glass properly after drinking milk out of it.
