Activity calorie calculator

I'm not sure if you noticed, but there's an 'Our Editors Recommend' list at the bottom right corner of this blog. Our Editors is me, and the links put there take you to the sites I find worth visiting.

The second entry is Activity Calorie Calculator, a nifty tool when dieting. This little web application will let you know how many calories you burn per time unit, based on your weight. So, you just enter your weight and time amount you usually spend doing something, and click on the Show me button.

And, like magic, the activity calorie calculator lists 222 activities and calories burnt! But, the most amazing thing about this is that the calculator shows you not only sport, gym and fitness activity calculations, but also every day chores we all have to do.

Let me tell you, it's a great relief to know that even watching TV, playing with kids and reading a book burn away calories! Even by standing in line or sitting through a boring meeting you burn calories!

You can also find calories burnt by outdoor and indoor home maintenance (including planting trees and watering plants), household and daily activities (like washing the dishes, cooking), office work (including break) and much more.

I knew somewhere deep down that my body must be burning calories all the time, but it's so great to see it written down!
