6. Hair color and cut - Make an appointment at the salon three to four days in advance, trim your split ends and get the colorist to freshen your color up. If you're already happy with your cut and color, think about hairstyles and decide if you want your hair up or down.

7. Outfit - a dress is always suitable, as I have told you over and over again. Christmas and New Year's are probably the most suitable times when a gal can get away with wearing golden dress, so why not pick one? Of course, the LBD is always there if you get stuck.

8. Shoes - if you're buying a new dress, there's a huge possibility that you'll have to buy appropriate shoes too. Although I am all for flats when going to less formal parties, when you need to glow high heels are in order. Make sure they don't Blister your feet; I always buy the shoes at least three days in advance and wear them round the house while doing the cleaning, sitting in front of the computer...

10. Diet - last but not least, can you do something to get a bit slimmer before the party? Well, there is a way in fact to lose some of the weight presto. This diet is going to relieve you of at least two pounds of weight, but most of it will surely be water. Never mind, you'll definitely look slimmer, and your tummy is going to de-bloat.
